Housing and community action event for young people

7pm, 22 June at Wolves Lane Horticultural Centre

StART and the Ubele Initiative invite you to an evening dedicated to the topic of HOUSING, DISPOSSESSION, DISPLACEMENT & LOCAL COMMUNITY ACTION/RESISTANCE in different parts of London, including Haringey

Accompanied by four SHORT FILMS:

Cla’am (2017)

The area is changing. People are disappearing. What has that got to do with coffee? Written and Directed by Nathaniel Martello-White

Being Blacker (2018)

Regeneration clip. By Molly Dineen. The film tells the story of the renowned reggae record shop owner and music producer Blacker Dread, his extended family, friends and the wider Brixton community

Tower XYZ (2016)

Accompanied by a lilting soundtrack, characters wander through London’s concrete jungle as the narrator reflects on the current state of the city and her imagined future. Director, Writer, Producer & Editor Ayo Akingbade

 

Street 66 (2018)

Documentary about Ghanaian housing activist Dora Boatemah and the Angell Town community in Brixton, London fighting for better housing conditions. Director, Writer, Producer & Editor Ayo Akingbade
